Who Is BIG P?

What gets you out of bed in the morning? For me it's getting on the water before everyone else, tying on a carnivorous fly that most people would say “no way” for a trout to eat, and creating epic memories from angling adventures.

Growing up I was always playing in the creeks and smaller streams that flowed behind our house in Greeley, Colorado. Exploring the water, examining the bugs, and catching crawdads and bluegill is what sold me on the idea of living my life on the water. I moved to Montrose, CO at the age of 12 and never looked back–finding my place in the mountains and in debatably the best place I could be for fly fishing. Ten rivers within a 100 mile radius in all directions–gold medal rivers within miles with the Uncompahgre and Gunnison River in my backyard.

When I started to take fly fishing seriously, the first moments I wanted to capture were the awesome Grip ‘n Grin photos to show off the catch of the day. It didn’t take long before I started experimenting with close ups and underwater shots, and then I was hooked on the art. I was in some of the most beautiful places in Colorado to chase these fish, so why not capture the adventure, frame by frame, and be able to go home and relive the moments again and again through video and stills. From the big brown trout that chased down your streamer to the boat, to the small BWO’s getting slurped by rainbows in the riffles in the spring, I want to be able to capture it all. It's not just a hobby, or a passion, it's a lifestyle.
